What is Parquet Flooring?
Parquet translates from French to mean “a small compartment”.
Parquet is a geometric mosaic of wood pieces used for a decorative effect in flooring. It really shows off the timber and has an inherent elegance that is undeniable. Parquet patterns often include geometric and angular patterns but may contain curves too. This makes it a perfect flooring option for oddly shaped rooms.
Parquet is not only desired for its aesthetic appeal but also for its forgiving nature when it comes to repairs. If it were to get scratched or a few blocks become damaged it is a quick fix to sand and relay the damaged areas rather than having to replace the whole floor. Parquet is also hard wearing making it a perfect flooring option for entrance halls or well walked areas; including schools, government buildings and even factories.
Parquet services offered:
Parquet Wood Floor Resurrection
aka a relay, sand and seal:
A relay becomes essential when the parquet blocks become loose and the glue holding it all together loses its adhesive properties and becomes brittle.
Parquet Wood Floor Restoration
aka sand and seal:
This is a remedial process that we use to fully restore parquet, or strip floors.
A sand and seal is needed when the floors are excessively worn and the smooth appearance and texture has become flaky, waxy or gummy.
Parquet Wood Floor Rejuvenation
aka buff and coat:
This is a maintenance procedure that extends the life of your floors whilst giving them a rejuvenating facelift. This treatment is used when the floors start looking a bit lacklustre but are not damaged enough for a full sand and seal.
