Floor resurrection is a corrective procedure that is used to restore disrupted parquet. Parquet is
a method of flooring where a geometric mosaic is created by laying pieces of wood in a
decorative pattern. These patterns may be square, triangle, diamond or herringbone. Parquet
can be disrupted, resulting in loose or broken pieces of wood, by any number of causes. These
include the glue that is used to fix the pieces of wood to the concrete flooring underneath
becoming brittle or losing its adhesive quality; flooding or any other cause of water damage
including a bath that has overflowed or a geyser that has burst; or, when a parquet floor has
been covered, with for example a carpet, and revealed again. The removal, of said carpet, can
lead to the wood pieces also being pulled loose and needing to be relayed. Any parquet blocks
can be relayed, sanded and sealed in order to rejuvenate them.
The process of floor resurrection includes the loose (and in the case of water damage,
potentially swollen) wooden pieces being lifted, cleaned and where necessary, also trimmed.
Once the pieces are clean and to size, they are re-laid. When the wooden pieces are lifted and
re-laid, it is important that each of the pieces are replaced in the same position they were lifted
from to minimize trimming and filling of gaps that might occur between the pieces. This way,
both time and money are saved.
After each of the pieces have been re-laid, the floor is then sanded and sealed. This complete
overhaul is specifically designed to resurrect your floors once they have been damaged.
