What is Engineered Wood Flooring?
Engineered wood flooring is real wood flooring which is made up of anything between 3 and 12 layers of ply. These layers of ply are cross layered, then glued and pressed together to form a strong bond. It is this bonded core board that makes engineered wood flooring so very different from solid wood flooring; this is because an engineered wood floor is constructed of layers of both hardwood and plywood, whereas hardwood flooring is a solid piece of wood with no layers.
Can you restore engineered wood flooring?
Engineered floors can be sanded several times, depending on the thickness of the solid wood top layer. Restoring your engineered wood floor is affordable and less costly than replacing it. A beautifully refinished engineered wood floor will become a valuable asset to your home or business property.
Engineered Flooring Sanding and Restoration
While sanding solid wood floors may be something that you can try and do yourselves, we would definitely recommend leaving the restoration of engineered wood flooring to a professional flooring company.
Engineered wood products have limited sanding potential and unless done by professionals, there is a high risk that the top layer of solid wood can be sanded down and the whole floor damaged.
We offer bespoke engineered floor sanding services which always take into consideration the remaining natural wood layer to ensure outstanding appearance and ultimate wood protection.
